Monday, May 1, 2006 - MAY DAY - So, it's May Day.
Here's a picture of Hopey and Zoe with their May Day
baskets. It's so cute! I still remember getting May Day
baskets when I was a little girl in Kingston - probably 50
years ago. YIKES! That's a half of a century. Mercy Maude.
I was planning to get a lot accomplished today (you know,
organizing myself) but as I was getting ready to go to the
grocery store, Krissy called and then she and Milo showed
up in the driveway.
That's was nice to see her and see how well Milo is doing
post-surgery. He got his staples taken out today and is
progressing quite well. I'm so glad I hadn't left yet and got to
see them.
Then, as I was getting ready to put the picture of Zoe and
Hope on here, I heard the doorbell and James and
Stephanie stopped by to say hi. That was another very nice
unexpected surprise. You never know what's going to
happen on May Day.
Now, I really have to go to the store. see ya later, djb

Tuesday,- May 2, 2006 - I went out to the high school this
morning to get the stack of Andrew and Jarrett
scholarships. I started reading through them and I am
completely and totally overwhelmed.
It's just very emotional because it's Jarrett's class. When
I had to handle Andrew's class, I was still in shock so it
wasn't like this. This is very, very difficult. Plus, there were
some kids I assumed would apply, and they didn't.
It's very stressful. It's too much. It's so extremely sad. I'm
going to go outside and play with my plants because I need
to do something other than sit inside and brood. I'd much
rather by happy.
The rain stopped. We got another 1/2 inch or so. The
grass will grow more and I'll get to mow so I've that to look
forward to. see ya later, djb

Wednesday, May 3, 2006 - It's always something. We're supposed to get
some rain later this afternoon, so I figured that I'd better mow the lawn since
the grass is growing like crazy after the all the rain we got (and some crazy
woman put a lot of fertilizer on it).
I was happily mowing on the north side of the house by Jarrett and Nick's apple
tree when it stopped moving. The engine stayed on but it stopped in its
tracks!! I had to push that sucker back to the shed!!! That's when I decided
that I'm finished with this LEMON! I have to get a new tractor. I'm thinking John
Deere - they seem to be quite good. That would be so appropriate since we
had a John Deere tractor on the farm, and I have a picture of that!
When I came in from working in the yard yesterday afternoon, I read the rest of
the scholarship applications. What's synonymous with overwhelming? That's
what it's like. Emotionally draining. Unbelievable stuff. I can't even explain it.
It's inexplicable. sigh.....
I'd better get going because I have to get a new tractor before Saturday!
See ya later, djb
