January 7, 9, 12, 14, 2014 - Journal
Tuesday, January 7, 2014 - We're in the midst of a polar vortex and Siberian Express which means the
temperatures are way below ZERO for days on end.  I don't care for this. djb
Sundogs and a solar halo around the Sun, December 19, 2013, shot from home with the Canon 60Da and
10-22mm lens. The halo is caused by ice crystals in the air, in this case very nearby as they can be seen as
"stars" sparkling in the sunlight in the sky and in the foreground. This is an HDR stack of three exposures at
2/3rds stop intervals, processed thru Photomatix Pro.
Thursday, January 9, 2014 - For the past few weeks, we've been seeing sun dogs at sunset.  I'm not
able to see them at sunrise.  I found this photo on the internet and it shows the sun dogs which are the
rainbows, I think.  This whole thing is confusing.  I always called the entire phenomena "sun dogs" and now
I'm learning that it's a solar halo around the sun.  Whatever.
If you see this, it is AWESOME!!!! ~djb
Sunday, January 12, 2014 - It's still winter. yuk!  I have an appt. tomorrow with a medical doctor to see
what's wrong with me.  I'm thinking thyroid?   I feel like I'm drunk all the time - shaky and wobbly.  If it stems
from the infected tooth in my mouth (tooth #2), well that's being pulled out of my mouth on Tuesday.  So,
hopefully I'll feel less weird. Last time I had an infected tooth, I immediately felt better after it was removed.
So, I will be under the weather for a few days.  Don't want to get a dry socket!!!!!  cheers ya later, djb
January 15, 2014 - 11:52 p.m. EST —Full Wolf Moon:
Amid the zero cold and deep snows of midwinter, the
wolf packs howled hungrily outside Indian villages.  It
was also known as the
Old Moon or the Moon after
Yule
.  In some tribes this was the Full Snow Moon;
most applied that name to the next moon.
Tuesday, January 14, 2014 - Note to Howard
& Irene:  Don't text at the movies.  Wow! Some
people are just crazy.  Well, now the shooter/killer
can have free medical care when he goes to
prison for the rest of his life.  jerk!

I'm anxiously awaiting my extraction.  I can't even
imagine how painful it's going to be.  Hopefully,
once #2 is gone, I'll feel better.

This whole weirdness has been a nightmare.

The one good thing about getting up at 4 a.m. is
seeing the almost full moon.  Thought I'd better
take a picture this morning because we're
supposed to get snow tomorrow.

Interesting to also note -- it's snowing right now at
10:30 a.m. on 1/14/2014.  This has been such a
snowy winter.  I prefer 82 degrees.

I'll talk to you all much, much later, djb

Tuesday, January 14, 2014 - Twelve
years ago today,
Grandpa Burkholder
dropped dead from a massive heart
attack in the living room of their home in
Port Charlotte, Florida.  He said that he
couldn't feel his legs...and then he
collapsed to the floor.

They had just returned from a trip to
Georgia to see Jim and Joan and their
kids.  We had seen him and Grandma
over Christmas 2001
(two weeks
previously)
when we were in Florida --
first at Berg's house, then their house,
then back to Bergs, then back home.

I'm in the midst of my drama so I can't
write as much as I want to but hopefully
Grandpa and the saintly boys are
celebrating today...  God bless them all,
djb
