Daily Journal - January 12 & 13, 2009

Monday, January 12, 2009 - Yesterday was Marc's birthday. Bob
and I called him and sang Happy Birthday to him last night.
Apparently, it had been around 80 degrees for his birthday festivities.
Lucky for Marc that he doesn't live here!!!
We now have a BLIZZARD WARNING or is it a watch??? Okie dokie,
I've never watched for a blizzard before so I'm not exactly sure what to
do. I think Jarrett's yellow tornado helmet would be inappropriate.
haha Wait a minute, I still have that heavy-duty furry Russian hat I
bought for him for his project on Russia - shortly before he died.
That's a funny hat. He actually wore it. What a hoot.
Yesterday, just after noon, we got a call from Judy and she and Abby
and Carly were over at Hughes Creek so she cordially invited us to
come over and see them. As soon as we got there, I got to hold
Carly. She's such a snuggly sweetheart. Babies are so sweet!
The last time we saw the girls, it was also very cold -- the day after
Thanksgiving. Then, it got colder and then it got warmer and then it
was December 1st and it started snowing and it hasn't stopped
except for those few days when it rained and all the snow melted.
Guess what? Snow's BACK... So, we have blizzard conditions
tonight and into tomorrow early morning. Then, on Wednesday, we
have some more SNOW coming. Maybe a lot of snow. Of course,
we have snow because I have another eye doctor appointment.
Still haven't cancelled it yet, but I'm pretty sure I won't be driving in
blizzard conditions. Some people can't drive when they're talking on
cell phones -- I can't drive in the freaking s*n*o*w. Although I do have
new tires, so it is much better than it has been in the past.
Gotta go do some more blizzard preparations. Not exactly sure what
that entails but certainly it must involve flannel. hahaaaa Now, I'm
cracking myself up. That's a good thing. snow ya later, djb

Tuesday, January 13, 2009 - This morning, I realized that the National
Weather Service did not issue a BLIZZARD warning - they meant to
say a LIZARD warning. Apparently, they misspoke and I mis-heard.
Last night, the howling winds that accompany a blizzard never
materialized. Then, this morning when I came down here and turned
on the computer, there were lizards crawling around everywhere.
Whew! That sure takes the pressure off because yesterday, I was
quite concerned about the blizzard - see journal entry below. ~djb
